Every conference has an afterparty.
This one has a house party.
House of Valkey is a three floor takeover of the strip's own Taco Bell Cantina. Neon on glass, deep house music pulsing through the walls, and an ebb-and-flow of connection and entertainment (no, seriously, there will be performers).
This night is for the builders, the maintainers, the contributors, the curious, and those who are all in on open source. Registration includes exclusive House of Valkey swag, a custom taco bell menu, giveaways, and a few surprises for those who linger. And of course there are baja blasts.... spiked baja blasts.
See you in Vegas.
While this event takes place during AWS re:Invent, you don't need to attend re:Invent to join us. Registration is highly encouraged.

The Valkey community will also have several sessions during re:Invent. If you're attending the conference, don't miss:
Title: Cache me if you can, Valkey edition
Session:
[REPEAT] (OPN402-R) Wed, December 3 12:30 PM - 2:30 PM PST MGM | Level 1 | Grand 117
[REPEAT] (OPN402-R1) Thu, December 4 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM PST MGM | Level 3 | Premier 313
Level: 400 – Expert
Type: Workshop
Speakers: Roberto Luna-Rojas / Nigel Brown
Session Abstract:
This hands-on workshop explores practical caching with Valkey through three key use cases: database query optimization, session management, and real-time leaderboards. Participants will learn to cache expensive database operations, external API calls, and JSON configurations while building scalable session storage and dynamic leaderboards.
Beyond implementation, the workshop emphasizes critical caching challenges including cache invalidation, stampede prevention, memory management, and data consistency. Attendees will experience common pitfalls firsthand and learn proven strategies for cache warming, TTL optimization, and production monitoring.
Participants leave with working code examples, architectural patterns, and clear understanding of caching trade-offs they can immediately apply to their applications.

Title: Moving to Valkey without downtime
Session: OPN406 Thu, December 4 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM PST Mandalay Bay | Lower Level North | South Pacific B
Level: 400 – Expert
Type: Chalk Talk
Abstract: Join us for an in-depth exploration of Valkey, an open source in-memory datastore project under the Linux Foundation, and discover how this high-performance key-value database is revolutionizing the way we approach data storage and management. From the core engine to the modules and client libraries, we'll delve into the architecture and features that make Valkey an attractive alternative to traditional in-memory implementations and provide migration strategies from Redis to Valkey. We'll provide a step-by-step guide on how to seamlessly transition your existing workloads to Valkey, leveraging the compatibility and benefits that this new database offers.

Title: Disagree in Commits: The Performance Improvements That Cut Costs by a Third
Session: OPN309
Level: 300 – Advanced
Type: Breakout Session
Abstract: When paths diverge in open source, innovation often follows. Join Corey Quinn and Madelyn Olson as they dive into how Amazon ElastiCache for Valkey cut prices by up to 33% while simultaneously improving both performance and reliability through community-driven development. You'll discover how open governance enables optimization decisions that benefit all users, why performance improvements and stability aren't mutually exclusive, and what it really takes to create a seamless migration path at scale. Whether you're currently running Redis, evaluating alternatives, or simply interested in how open-source economics can benefit cloud customers, you'll leave with practical insights on reducing infrastructure costs without compromising on reliability.
