The Grid Capacity Map tool is designed to calculate hosting capacity or headroom in the power grid using power flow calculations. This innovative tool includes a web frontend with a scenario builder, enabling users to calculate hosting capacity for various scenarios. By providing a user-friendly interface, the tool simplifies the process of assessing the grid's capacity to accommodate additional loads or generation sources.
The software has successfully passed the proof of concept phase and has moved beyond the initial development stage. It has been integrated with Pandapower and PSS/E, two well-known power system analysis tools. Additionally, initial work has been done to integrate the tool with LF Energy PowSyBl, which is sponsored by RTE. Other solvers, such as LF Energy Power Grid Model sponsored by Alliander, have also been considered. Each solver offers unique strengths depending on the grid type, whether it is distribution or transmission, and the specific scenario being studied. This flexibility ensures that the Grid Capacity Map tool can be adapted to a wide range of applications and grid configurations.
We are eager to present the tool in its current state to gather feedback and identify potential development partners. While the Grid Capacity Map is not yet a finished product, it has reached a level of maturity where we can demonstrate its potential and initial capabilities. By collaborating with industry experts and stakeholders, we aim to refine and enhance the tool to better meet the needs of the power grid community.
